From April to June 2024, SASHI Foundation in collaboration with Forum Musyawarah Masyarakat Adat (FoMMA) of Malinau Regency, successfully facilitated the settlement of boundary disputes in customary areas, for the Indigenous Peoples’ Communities of  Paking, Punan Plen – Semolon, and Abay Tabor Sawen.
SASHI Foundation then helped the community to register their customary areas to the Customary Community Affair Management Agency (Badan Pengelola Urusan masyarakat Adat – BPUMA) of Malinau Regency on June 24, 2024. This activity was funded by Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) and Samdhana Institute.
The registration process for these Customary Communities was also attended by relevant stakeholders, including the Head of BPUMA Registration Reception Division, the Secretary of BPUMA, the Head of Paking Village, the Head of Pulau Sapi Village, the Paking Customary Leader, the Punan Plen-Semolon Customary Leader, the Tabor Sawen Customary Leader, BPUMA staff, and SASHI Foundation staff.
