How We Work

Mission

Our mission is to preserve nature and cultural values for sustainable living by sharing knowledge, promoting equality and justice, implementing partnership solutions, as well as multi-scale and multidisciplinary approaches.

Strategy

Partnership and Collaboration

In pursuing its mission, SASHI is committed to building networks with multiple stakeholders, such as government, NGOs, donors, and private sector partners, to implement SASHI programs. Through these partnerships, SASHI aims to build greater resilience and stronger solutions to preserve nature and cultural values. By empowering local organizations and community groups in the field and promoting a bottom-up approach in decision-making processes, SASHI strives to enhance conservation efforts and protect cultural values.

Multiscale

Environmental damage, such as wildlife habitat loss and illegal exploitation of natural resources, has impacted various geographical and ecological scales. Therefore, efforts to prevent and mitigate such damage, as well as to preserve and manage the environment, must consider the specific context and characteristics of these scales. SASHI will develop and share experiences and solutions at the site, landscape, and jurisdictional levels, from village to national levels to address conservation issues and uphold cultural values.

Multidisciplinary

The impacts of human activities such as global warming and loss and fragmentation of habitats, are increasing. Therefore, conservation efforts are becoming more complex, involving not only the preservation of biodiversity and evolutionary processes but also consideration of geographical variations in environmental factors and the integration of social sciences alongside biology and ecology. SASHI is committed to employing a multidisciplinary approach in developing solutions related to nature preservation and cultural conservation values.
