SASHI Foundation in collaboration with Forum Musyawarah Masyarakat Adat (FoMMA) of Malinau Regency and Samdhana Institute successfully facilitated the process of establishing the Customary Dispute Resolution Agency for Malinau Regency, marked by the issuance of the Malinau Regent’s Decree Number : 660/05/K.269/2024 about “Establishment of the Customary Dispute Resolution Agency of Malinau Regency for Period 2024 – 2027”
The Customary Dispute Resolution Agency is tasked to resolving disputes over customary boundary conflicts, and violations of indigenous peoples’ rights. It was established based on Regional Regulation Number 10 of 2012 relating to the “Recognition and Protection of Indigenous Peoples’ Rights in Malinau Regency.”
A plenary meeting about the final draft of the Regent’s Decree regarding the “Establishment of the Customary Dispute Resolution Agency of Malinau Regency for Period 2024 – 2027” was held on July 31, 2024. Then the decree was signed by the Regent of Malinau on September 2, 2024.
