Workshop To Report Sashi Foundation’s Activities In West Bali

Supported by The Rainforest Trust, SASHI Foundation held a stakeholder workshop on 29 – 30 January 2024 at Jimbarwana Hotel, Jembrana Regency, Bali. This workshop is part of the feasibility study activities, that are intended to enhance forest protection efforts in West Bali. This workshop lasted for two days and attended by approximately 70 participants, including representatives from representatives of forest neighboring village communities, private sectors, relevant government agencies, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

The main purpose of this workshop was to present the results of SASHI Foundation’s activities in West Bali, and to discuss opportunities for further activities or collaborations aimed in strengthening conservation of forest ecosystem in the West Bali landscape. The event was officially opened by the Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency of Jembrana Regency, who also serves as the Chair of Sabha Wana Kerthi, a stakeholder collaborative forum to protect forest landscape in Jembrana Regency.

The outcomes of this stakeholder workshop were: (1) A joint statement to improve protection of the West Bali forest landscape, (2) Problems and ongoing activities related to social forestry scheme identified, and (3) Agree with future activities in efforts to improve the management of Social Forestry (PS) for which permits already exist, and efforts to accelerate the development of Social Forestry (PS) in West Bali.
