After completing the early stage of participatory tree inventory at three Village Forest in Bali Province, i.e. at Penyaringan Village, Wanagiri Village, and Batur Selatan Village, from September to November 2023, SASHI Foundation supported by the Ford Foundation through The Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF), organized a workshop to present and report the results of this activity. This workshop took place at the office of Forestry and Environment Office of Bali Province at 20 February 2024.
The workshop was attended by the head of Forestry and Environment Office of Bali Province, the head of Watershed Management and Empowerment Community, the head of Social Forestry and Environmental Partnership Agency for Bali and Nusa Tenggara, the head of Management Sustainable Forest Region VII Denpasar, the head of West Bali Forest Management Unit, the head of North Bali Forest Management Unit, the head of East Bali Forest Management Unit, the head and community representatives of Penyaringan Village Forest Management Unit, the head and community representatives of Wanagiri Village Forest Management Unit, and the head and community representatives of Batur Selatan Village Forest Management Agency.​
The results from the forest inventory has reported including :
- Penyaringan Village: 4,157 tress that recorded on the inventory, 2,192 trees (53%) are categorized as planted, while there are 1965 trees (47%) are categorized as formerly present.
- Wanagiri Village: 7,065 trees recorded on the inventory, 3,442 trees (49%) are categorized as planted, and 3,623 (51%) are categorized as formerly present.
- Batur Selatan Village: 4,323 trees recorded on the inventory, 3,971 (92%) are categorized as formerly present, and 352 (8%) are categorized as planted.
Following the workshop results, it was agreed that each Village Forest Management Unit will continue the participatory tree inventory process for trees with a diameter less than 10 cm. Additionally, these three Village Forest Management Units will serve as pioneers to train other nearby social forestry management unit on participatory tree inventory to be implemented at their own forests.
